APPROFEM Project, Democratic Republic of Congo

Published on 29th November 2013.

APPROFEM Project, Democratic Republic of CongoTwo years ago, Misean Cara granted €97,720 in co-funding for the construction of a Centre dedicated to the education and training of socially and educationally disadvantaged adult women from Bandundu, DRC. APPROFEM, an association that promotes the rights of these women and equips them with the skills to play their full part in family and community life, had already been working for years with these women, but this important work lacked the necessary visibility that a permanent centre could give to it.
Today, after some unavoidable delay and in a Centre that is not quite finished, APPROFEM is providing popular courses for disadvantaged women. (See main photo). Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have been able to contribute a further €22,650 to get all work completed to the required standards.
Project director, Fr Adrien Gesse OMI, assures us that the official opening of the Centre will take place amid much celebration on 25 January 2014.
